Alan Shearer explains why Nuno is to blame for Sean Dyche sack at Nottingham Forest

Alan Shearer believes that Sean Dyche’s sacking at Nottingham Forest is a result of the job Nuno Espirito Santo has done at West Ham.

After Forest drew 0-0 with 20th-placed Wolves on Wednesday, Dyche was swiftly sacked the following day by owner Evangelos Marinakis.

They are currently 17th in the table, but only three points separate them and West Ham in the relegation zone.

Nuno, who was sacked by Forest at the start of the season, might be secretly happy that Dyche has been dismissed, especially since it’s West Ham‘s recent form that condemned him.

Nuno and West Ham are the reason Sean Dyche was sacked

When Sean Dyche’s side beat the Hammers 2-1 at the London Stadium on 6 January, West Ham looked certain to be relegated.

However, the Hammers have been in brilliant form ever since, and they have given themselves a fighting chance of staying up.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast on 13 February, Shearer alluded to West Ham’s form as the reason for Dyche‘s sacking.

He said: “This is all Nuno’s fault, by the way, because of West Ham’s resurgence. The other clubs are panicking because of their results.

“They were down four weeks ago. But Forest, Spurs and Leeds are now very worried.”

West Ham’s form in their last five Premier League games

West Ham have recorded wins over Spurs, Sunderland and Burnley in their last five games, while also stopping Man United’s four-game winning run in the 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

The Hammers face Bournemouth in their next Premier League match on 21 February, while Forest host Liverpool the following day.

There is a scenario that could see West Ham out of the relegation zone if those results go their way, and that is all thanks to the job that Nuno is doing.

After going on a 10-game winless run between November and January, his side have picked up their form in remarkable fashion.

What has sparked Nuno’s turnaround in form?

The Hammers haven’t had an easy run of games, but the new signings are definitely making an impact.

Although Pablo is now injured for the foreseeable future, his arrival allowed West Ham to play with two strikers.

Taty Castellanos has been superb, and he finally managed to score his first Premier League goal in the 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Their attack has been completely rejuvenated, and Nuno deserves all the credit for getting his team to start firing on all cylinders.

With Dyche now gone, Forest will be looking over their shoulder with serious anxiety, as the Portuguese head coach could now be the one to relegate them.

At the start of the season, no one would have believed that.
