Alan Shearer drops ‘rotten’ verdict after West Ham United v Liverpool
Alan Shearer has slammed Liverpool after they dropped more points following a 2-2 draw with West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday (27 April).
Jurgen Klopp’s side came into the Premier League clash off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Everton in the Merseyside derby, suffering their first loss at Goodison Park for 14 years.
The Hammers even claimed a lead through Jarrod Bowen before Michail Antonio had to salvage a draw late on, with Andy Robertson and an Alphonse Areola own goal earning Liverpool a 2-1 lead.
Speaking via The Rest is Football podcast on Monday (29 April), Shearer said: “After what happened at Everton, against your biggest rivals, that you got battered and outfought, and all the accusations are chucked at you, I thought they’d come out all-guns-blazing against West Ham.
“But in the first half, Liverpool were rotten again.”
West Ham United claim draw against free-falling Liverpool
Despite West Ham’s recent form, it would have come as no surprise to see the Reds fall to defeat at the London Stadium on Saturday, having lost to Crystal Palace and Everton in recent league matches.
Of course, Bowen was back in the limelight as he notched his 16th league goal of the season, tying club legend Paolo Di Canio for the most goals in a single Premier League season.
Fans also loved to see Antonio back on the scoresheet, scoring his third goal in as many matches after netting against the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen, and Palace in a 5-2 defeat.

Thanks to the Hammers, Liverpool’s chances of claiming the league title look dead and buried, now being four points behind Manchester City and five points behind Arsenal.
Though it should be seen as a good achievement to take a point off Klopp’s side, David Moyes remains under immense pressure at the London Stadium, with rumours about his future at the club continuing to swirl.
In other West Ham news, David Moyes was criticised as a double transfer has been mooted.
