Alan Shearer blown away by what he saw from Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus in West Ham United 3-0 win v Wolves

Alan Shearer was left blown away by the displays of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta as West Ham United triumphed over Wolves on Sunday (17 December).

The Ghanaian international scored twice to help the Hammers get back on track in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Wolves at London Stadium on Sunday (17 December).

A dominant West Ham looked a different side to the one that suffered a 5-0 thrashing by Fulham seven days previously with the win moving the club to eighth in the Premier League.

Along with Kudus’ two goals, Brazilian playmaker Paqueta laid on assists for all three goals which left Shearer wowed by their displays on Sunday.

Writing in his Premier League Team of the Week (18 December), Shearer named both Kudus and Paqueta in his eleven.

On Kudus, he said: “Produced two quality strikes. He is absolutely loving the Premier League.”

And on Paqueta, he wrote: “A hat-trick of assists that had it all – flair, finesse and execution.”

Wow

How the West Ham United fans must be enjoying the thrilling qualities of Kudus, Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen in their star-studded attack right now.

When those three players are on song, there is no Premier League defence around that can handle them and it is even more impressive given David Moyes doesn’t have a recognised striker to rely upon.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings’ struggles so far this season simply have not helped Moyes’ ambitions but the Scot has had to call upon Paqueta, Kudus and Bowen for inspiration and they are certainly delivering.

It’s unlikely the Hammers will be able to sign a striker in January which means Moyes may have to make-do with what he has until the end of the campaign and he will be praying none of the aforementioned get injured.

However, he will certainly be left with a critical conundrum in the winter when former Ajax maestro Kudus goes off to the African Cup of Nations with Ghana which leaves Moyes short of his ingenuity and class after scoring nine goals already in all competitions.

How Moyes fares without the Ghanaian international will be intriguing to see but whoever he calls upon to replace Kudus throughout his absence certainly has huge shoes to fill.

In other West Ham news, a journalist has made a prediction over Kudus’ future after what he saw at the weekend.
