Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry left in stitches at Angelo Ogbonna ahead of West Ham United clash v Arsenal
Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry were left in stitches after Gabby Logan introduced Angelo Ogbonna and Jorginho as friends reunited ahead of the clash between West Ham United and Arsenal.
The Hammers were looking to claim their third Premier League win in a row when they travelled to the Emirates Stadium to take on Mikel Arteta’s men on Thursday (28 December).
Ahead of the clash, Logan pulled aside Ogbonna and Jorginho from their respective dressing rooms for pre-match interviews live on Amazon Prime, with Shearer and Henry before revealing they were old friends from their time in the Italian Serie A.
Both players were hesitant to respond to Logan’s comment which left Shearer and Henry laughing at the awkwardness of the two players who weren’t so thrilled at the revelation.
Logan said: “We have here Jorginho and Ogbonna who have kindly joined Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and I for a quick chat and I understand you’re good friends off the pitch.”
Hammers defender Ogbonna responded hesitantly, saying “Yes”, before Shearer and Henry were left in stitches with the former Newcastle United striker and legend saying: “Don’t sound too excited guys.”
Awkward
Whether Ogbonna and Jorginho were friends reunited or not, that certainly was an awkward moment between the two players and it seemed as if the London derby anticipation had gotten to them already.
Both Ogbonna and Jorginho are blessed with plenty of experience and maturity at the highest level of the sport and have also enjoyed spells with some of Italy’s biggest sides, Juventus and Napoli.

With the match a hugely important one for both teams, it certainly didn’t seem as if Jorginho or Ogbonna were particularly thrilled about being referred to as old friends, especially given both their limited minutes and the fact that there is certainly no love lost between the two teams.
West Ham United and David Moyes have a dreadful record at the Emirates stadium in recent seasons and will be looking to put that right on Thursday but such chances seem incredibly difficult given the quality of the opposition and their record on home turf so far this season.
