Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker cannot believe what West Ham did to Graham Potter before sacking him
Graham Potter suffered a nightmare weekend at West Ham United.
West Ham sacked Potter on Saturday after eight months in charge, with the final blow being the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.
Nuno Espirito Santo has been quickly appointed as Potter’s successor, and will be in the dugout for West Ham’s match with Everton on Monday.
Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker have reacted to the news of Potter‘s dismissal, and they were particularly unhappy with one element of the saga.

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker bemused after Potter performed media duties
The sacking was bizarre, mainly due to the timing at which West Ham decided to pull the trigger and let the former Chelsea boss go.
Potter was given the week to take charge of first-team training, as well as take questions from the media in the pre-match press conference for the Everton game.
The press conference was awkward, to say the least, as the ex-Brighton man had to field questions on a trend on X where his face had been swapped onto multiple celebrities.
Shearer and Lineker have expressed their sympathy for Potter, saying that the treatment West Ham gave him this week was unacceptable, suggesting they had treated him like a scapegoat.
When asked about Potter’s sacking on The Rest Is Football, Shearer said: “I thought that was terrible. They’ve obviously been speaking to Nuno and Nuno’s people for some days, and the reason that they’ve just shafted him [Potter] and put him out to the press, I guess, is because they weren’t able to come to an agreement with Nuno on Friday.
“So they thought ‘We’ll just send you out to the press conference, we’ll feed you to the wolves, we’ll let them ask you all these horrible questions about memes and all of these things, and on Saturday morning we’ll give you a call and sack you.’
“I thought that was a terrible thing to do, to put him in front of the press conference on Friday.”
Lineker replied: “I thought the same.”

Graham Potter has been embarrassed by West Ham
Potter has been through a tough time at West Ham since he arrived in January, and it was quickly proven that the former Chelsea man was not the right fit for the role.
The decision to sack Potter was the correct one, but there is a way to go about sacking a manager, and this certainly isn’t one of them.
The press conference was cringey, and it looked as though the Englishman just didn’t want to be there, as he was being asked questions that were nothing to do with the Everton game, as well as being asked constantly about his job security.
Potter’s reputation is in disarray now after his failed stint in East London, and the way his departure has unfolded has left neither party looking good in any light.
