Alan Pardew shares honest verdict on West Ham United fans after Liverpool loss

Alan Pardew has labelled West Ham fans as a “tough crowd” while alluding to their passion from the stands following the terrible defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

The Irons were brushed aside by the league leaders on 29 December with Liverpool securing an emphatic 5-0 victory at the London Stadium as the pressure grows on Julen Lopetegui.

Supporters have rightfully expressed their unrest towards the club after what has been a dismal campaign, with Pardew sharing his verdict on the fanbase as he reacted to the defeat live on talkSPORT (29 December, 8:40pm).

“I know West Ham fans could be tough, you know,” explained Pardew. “This is a tough crowd over there with the players and management and everything.

“There is that passion and of course, when you’re staying in games, that passion comes onto the pitch and it can get you over the line but unfortunately, you’ve gotta be in the game.”

West Ham fans have every right to be fuming

Life as a West Ham supporter has been dull this season and it’s quite astonishing that Lopetegui, at the current moment, is still in a job given the failure he has overseen at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have regressed and regressed under his stewardship and supporters are having the love for their club drawn out of them by a manager who is clearly out of his depth, and it’s hard not to have sympathy for the fans.

Jacob Steinberg reported [30 December] that the Spaniard will be awarded more time at the club and that unrest is only going to grow as results continue to frustrate.

The Irons have lacked anything under Lopetegui. Ideas, confidence and perhaps most importantly, identity and unless he is sacked, that won’t change and the season will continue to spiral.

While January will present an opportunity to strengthen the squad, any incoming will have little impact given the incapability of the Spaniard to captivate the quality in the side.
