Alan Pardew ‘disgusted’ at David Sullivan as Graham Potter sack fallout continues

West Ham went behind Graham Potter’s back to find a new manager after weeks of uncertainty.

West Ham’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace meant that the 50-year-old was as good as gone in East London, but he was still made to take Friday’s press conference.

Karren Brady reportedly dismissed Potter over the phone on Saturday morning as he was on his way into Rush Green.

Nuno Espirito Santo went on to take first-team training and will be in the dugout against David Moyes’ Everton on Monday night.

Alan Pardew: West Ham’s treatment of Graham Potter was ‘very poor’

David Sullivan has faced plenty of backlash from West Ham fans for his decisions over the last 18 months.

The Hammers were a powerhouse during most of Moyes’ reign, and have failed to hit the same heights since his dismissal.

West Ham made the right choice to bring in Nuno, with the Portuguese manager capable of bringing European glory back to the London Stadium.

However, the manner of Potter’s exit has come under question, with the ex-Chelsea boss deserving more respect.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 28 September, former West Ham manager Alan Pardew was left unamused by the way in which the 50-year-old was dismissed.

“I was quite disgusted that West Ham made him do that press conference on Friday and to announce a new manager within the last 48 hours,” he said.

“It wasn’t to do with anything he said in the presser, so I feel it was very poor from the West Ham board and they come out with no credit from doing that.

“Even if you don’t believe that [You have the backing from the board] you have to sort of say I’ve had some assurances and how bizarre that it’s David Moyes that just sums up everything about West Ham.”

Nuno Espirito Santo may have to wait until Brentford for first win

West Ham had to wait until the 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest for their first victory of the season.

They have since been unable to get three points, and it could be a while until they are boosted out of the bottom three.

The Hammers will do well to get anything out of tough fixtures against Everton and Arsenal before the October international break.

Nuno’s side will have a chance to reset after being away from the Premier League, and could get their first win against a struggling Brentford side on 20 October.
