Alan Brazil makes Crysencio Summerville admission in new West Ham United verdict
Alan Brazil has admitted he is a fan of Crysencio Summerville and suggested West Ham United fans want to see the London Stadium become a fortress.
Julen Lopetegui’s side have lost all of their three Premier League games at home, setting a record for the worst-ever start to a home season in East London in the Spanish manager’s first campaign in charge.
Although supporters have been left frustrated by the Hammers’ displays both home and away this season, talkSPORT host Brazil thinks solving the London Stadium problem should be Lopetegui’s top priority.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (27 September, 7:55) he said: “By the way, I like him Summerville. I think he’s a decent player.
“They started well West Ham. I think they [West Ham] want a stronghold in the east end of London in home games and nick something away.
“I think West Ham want a fortress at home.”
Will Crysencio Summerville start for West Ham v Brentford?
It is safe to say that Hammers supporters haven’t yet seen the best of Summerville in claret and blue, but his limited minutes this season have suggested that there is certainly a player in there.
Part of the reason Lopetegui potentially hasn’t been able to use the Dutchman more often is the Irons’ poor start to the campaign. The former Real Madrid manager is desperate for a win and therefore cannot afford to be too experimental with his side.
While the winless run is ongoing, particularly at home, the Irons boss is going to come under pressure from fans and pundits alike.
He needs to get his side back to winning ways so that the noise around the London Stadium finally stops.
If the Irons head into the international break with a win over Brentford and Ipswich Town under their belt, no one will be suggesting that Lopetegui should be sacked.
Ultimately, the only man who can truly ease the pressure on Lopetegui is Lopetegui himself. It is now down to the Hammers boss to find a way to get this new-look back to winning ways in the coming days.
