Alan Brazil delivers West Ham United admission amid Liverpool star Mo Salah transfer saga

Alan Brazil believes West Ham have done well after Declan Rice left for Arsenal and Liverpool will cope without Mohamed Salah.

This comes after the Egypt international has been linked with a Premier League record exit fee to move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, per The Sun.

The Hammers also sold Rice to Arsenal this summer and raked in a record fee for a British player – eclipsing what Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish to Aston Villa.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Brazil said: “If it was £215million, Liverpool owners said, ‘I’m sorry but we can’t turn that down. It’s ridiculous, we can’t turn it down.’

“They can’t buy anyone at the moment, but that’s an amazing amount for a 31-year-old.”

Ally McCoist then pointed out the fact that by selling Salah, Liverpool would be weakening their side.

To which Brazil responded, “Well, you look at Declan and he’s left West Ham. West Ham are doing fine, aren’t they?”

Sensible

Brazil makes a valid point about the Hammers doing well as this was money they would not be getting for Rice next summer.

His contract was to expire at the London Stadium in 2024 and even though the club had the option to extend it by a year, it would not have sat well with the Englishman who would’ve then forced a move – making clubs pay less for him.

West Ham Declan Rice

Salah is not going to be worth what he is now 12 months later and Liverpool eventually need to replace a player who’s past 30.

If they’re getting that kind of money, it’s too good to turn down and they can wait until January to sign a replacement as they’ve got plenty of talented players.

West Ham fans and David Moyes miss Rice but after signing Edson Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Mohammed Kudus, things do seem to be looking better for them.

It remains to be seen how Liverpool deal with this entire saga.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open to leaving his side this summer.
