Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist tear Lukasz Fabianski to shreds after West Ham United loss v Newcastle United

TalkSPORT host Alan Brazil ripped West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianksi to shreds after his dreadful errors in their 5-1 defeat to Newcastle at the London Stadium on Wednesday [5 April].

Eddie Howe’s in-form side capitalised on some poor West Ham defending to hit five goals at London Stadium and pile even more pressure on Hammers manager David Moyes.

And Brazil and Ally McCoist expressed their disbelief live on talkSPORT [6 April] at the Polish international after his dreadful error to allow Alexander Isak to score Newcastle’s fourth goal.

McCoist, recounting the goal: “I mean, the goals they lost last night, the goalkeeper as well Alan.”

Brazil responded by slaughtering Fabianski for his pointless kicking, stating: “By the way, why would you smash a ball to Jarrod Bowen on the wing against Dan Burn? What is he doing? Hit it anywhere else on the pitch you numpty!”

McCoist then said: “I know, but even for the goals, ah dear me, what’s he thinking about, the one where Isak finishes, just knocks it right in his path for a tap-in if anything.

“You know, let’s take nothing from Newcastle who are flying right now but some of the defensive work, I’m with you Alan was really really poor.”

Uncharacteristic

What Fabianski was doing for that Isak goal was beyond belief and again represented the terrible night West Ham United endured on Wednesday.

All of Newcastle’s goals were totally unavoidable and you simply cannot defend like they did when faced with the danger of relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham

The veteran Polish international will be terribly disappointed at his mistake for the fourth goal. Why would he rush out of his goal when he had two of his defenders trying to deal with Isak and they more or less had it covered?

It was absolutely dreadful to watch but seemed so uncharacteristic of Fabianski who has rarely let the Hammers down this season, becoming one of the club’s most reliable players.

But no player, no matter how good they are, is exempt from criticism when it comes to mistakes like that, and in the context of the season West Ham United are enduring right now. With Fabianksi out of contract at the London Stadium this summer, the Hammers will certainly have to be looking for potential replacements very soon.
