Agent of Fabian Balbuena rubbishes rumours surrounding West Ham exit
West Ham United defender Fabian Balbuena has been in the middle of speculation surrounding his future this week.
The Paraguayan was linked with a move to Brazilian side Flamengo, with his contract set to run out at the end of this season with the Irons.
Augusto Paraja, Balbuena’s agent, has rubbished those reports and instead shared that there are no concerns regarding a new deal.
Speaking to ESPN, Paraja shut down those rumours and shared that his client would want to remain at the London Stadium.
“He is one of the captains of the team, starting and wants to continue. I received many calls from journalists asking about Flamengo, but there is no possibility of him returning to South America,” he said.
“He wants to continue in England, there is no concern because of that (end of contract).”
David Moyes addressed the worries surrounding the contract situation at the London Stadium, with Balbuena not the only one in his final year.
Michail Antonio’s deal also runs out this season, and Moyes claimed that will be addressed in 2021 – with league form the main thing right now.
That couldn’t be going any better, with the Irons currently sitting fifth and in the middle of a healthy winning streak after the 2-1 victory against Villa last night.
Balbuena has featured in eight games this season already and has become a key part of the defence, with no one making more clearances than the 29-year-old [WhoScored].
The sooner this is sorted, the better.
