West Ham have added another body to their backroom staff.

West Ham are on the hunt for more first-team arrivals in January, having been linked with several players across various areas of the squad.

Chelsea’s Filip Jorgensen has been linked with a switch to the London Stadium, while Sunderland’s Dan Neil has also emerged as a target.

Paco Jemez hire announced at West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo has been heavily mooted for the sack at West Ham, but it became apparent that he was going to remain at the London Stadium as soon as they splashed out on two new attacking signings for him.

Now, David Sullivan has to back him to ensure he has the tools required to avoid relegation, and that goes for both player recruitment and staff recruitment.

The latest announcement is in regard to the latter, with West Ham having confirmed the appointment of Paco Jemez as a men’s first team coach.

His arrival was revealed in an Instagram post, with former Irons goalkeeper Adrian reacting to the news.

In the replies to the announcement, he said: “All the best, Paco.”

Who is Paco Jemez, and why have West Ham hired him?

Between 1988 and 2005, Jemez made over 400 appearances in Spanish football, playing predominantly as a centre-back.

He ventured into coaching two years after retiring, with a short stint at Alcala in the lower tiers of Spain, before spells at several other clubs.

Jemez’s most successful spell came with FC Cartagena, where his sdie were averaging 1.79 points per game over the 19 games he had in charge

Ray Valleocano is where most of his managerial career was spent, with over 200 matches in charge of the La Liga club, across two separate spells.

He will bring new ideas to West Ham, and also be reunited with Nuno after the duo spent time together playing for Deportivo La Coruna in the late 1990’s.
