Aaron Cresswell dissects West Ham defeats v Wolves & Spurs while discussing survival hopes

West Ham United defender Aaron Cresswell has analysed the Irons’ defeats against Wolves and Tottenham while discussing their survival hopes in the Premier League.

The Hammers lost both games 2-0 after the Premier League restart, and Cresswell had no excuses for the opening day defeat against Wolves.

Cresswell did claim that his side were much better against Spurs, and deserved more from the game, including the poor VAR call that went against them.

Cresswell gave his verdict on the relegation battle this season, admitting that the Hammers much concentrate on themselves rather than others.

“The first game against Wolves wasn’t good, wasn’t great,” he told talkSPORT.

“We didn’t really create that many chances. I thought in spells at the Tottenham game we could have done more with the situations and the chances we had, but we didn’t.

“We need a little bit of luck, it was definitely handball for the goal – how the VAR didn’t spot that, but that’s behind us now.

“There’s no point in looking into the future and think ‘if these beat them’, we’ve got to focus on what we’re doing.”

Looking at the Irons’ fixtures, it doesn’t get easier quickly, with Chelsea the next opponents at the London Stadium on Wednesday evening.

After Chelsea comes a string of fixtures that are favourable, to say the least. West Ham go up against Newcastle, Watford, Norwich and Burnley before their clash with Manchester United, and they must pick up atleast a couple of wins in those games.

Cresswell has the right mindset, and they must concentrate on themselves before worrying about what’s happening around them.
