Aaron Cresswell could be ready to play in West Ham v Norwich City clash

West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell has recovered from his back injury and could face Norwich City, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Hammers host Dean Smith’s side at the London Stadium on Wednesday evening (12 January), and David Moyes has been handed a boost with the 32-year-old now available for selection for the first time since November.

The defender was withdrawn in the 2-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad after hitting his back on the goal post, but he is now fully fit and raring to go.

Good news

West Ham have seen defensive injuries slightly derail their campaign, and being able to call upon their reliable left-back is a huge boost.

With Vladimir Coufal set to miss the game with covid, Moyes can play Ryan Fredericks or Ben Johnson at right-back, but he is not likely to see the need to keep Cresswell out of the squad despite Arthur Masuaku’s presence.

The DR Congo international has not particularly impressed, but he could be handed a start against the rock-bottom side.

Norwich are without a win in their last five league games despite a four-game unbeaten run prior to that, and they should not trouble West Ham.

Cresswell could be introduced or withdrawn as it could be too early for him to play all 90 minutes after almost two months out.

The Hammers will fancy their chances of picking up all three points on Wednesday and also against Leeds United on Sunday.

Six points from their next two games will surely help keep them firmly in the top-four race.
