Aaron Cresswell contract rumour at West Ham is ‘incorrect’ as January left-back signing assessed
Rumours that Aaron Cresswell is out of a contract next summer are incorrect according to Claret & Hugh, who claim the West Ham left-back has signed an extension.
Cresswell has spent eight years in east London with West Ham, but rumours started circling of an exit once it was revealed that he only had a few months remaining on his contract.
However, Claret & Hugh have now been informed by inside sources at West Ham that the 32-year-old has signed the option to extend, meaning he has 18 months remaining at the club.

“We place great value on Aaron and information that he is out of contract next year is incorrect, He has signed his option and has 18 months left on his deal,” said a key Hammers source.
Therefore with Cresswell set to stay at the London Stadium, West Ham are not expected to sign a new left-back in the January transfer window.
Key player
Cresswell may have been forced to take more of a back seat this season following the summer arrival of Emerson, but the Liverpool-born full-back is still crucial to David Moyes and the dressing room.
His experience is priceless and his knowledge of the club is also vital after spending nearly a decade around the training ground and the staff.

Cresswell is undoubtedly a leader among West Ham’s squad, and with Mark Noble’s departure still fresh it’s important for Moyes to still have some key players in the dressing room that can maintain the standards of the club.
Therefore, tying him down for another year is great business by the club. There’s no denying that Cresswell is into his twilight years as a footballer, but he can still contribute to the squad and the year extension ensures he doesn’t stay too long at the club.
Expect Emerson to be handed more and more minutes as he continues to settle in at the club. He’ll be viewed as a more long-term project by Moyes and he’ll want to slowly integrate him into the side as a regular starter.
