West Ham v Man United preview: Team news, line-ups, prediction
West Ham United face Manchester United in their first fixture of their United States tour on Saturday.
The Hammers have flown across the Atlantic to compete in the Premier League Summer Series tournament, which will take place in New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta.
The fixture against Manchester United will take place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Below, West Ham Zone explores the latest team news for the game and predicts the result.

Team news
Kyle Walker-Peters could make his Hammers debut in this fixture after signing a three-year contract at West Ham earlier in July.
El Hadji Malick Diouf should also feature after making a brief appearance during the club’s 3-1 victory over Grasshopper Club Zurich.
George Earthy has been unable to recover from his ankle injury and did not travel with the squad. Crysencio Summerville and Krisztian Hegyi have also stayed at home nursing injuries.
Edson Alvarez has been given extra time to recover after helping Mexico to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup. He will miss this game, although he’s expected to feature later on in the tournament.
Predicted lineup
West Ham have taken most of their biggest stars to the United States, and Graham Potter is expected to name a strong line-up for this game.
The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Niclas Fullkrug and Tomas Soucek should all feature.
Jean-Clair Todibo, who signed a permanent contract earlier this summer should marshal the defence. Alphonse Areola should start in goal, even if Graham Potter is actively seeking out a new goalkeeper in the transfer window.
With the ongoing uncertainty over Lucas Paqueta, it is likely that he will be left out for now.
Predicted line-up: Areola; Wan Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman; Walker-Peters, Ward Prowse, Soucek, Diouf; Bowen, Fullkrug, Guilherme

Prediction: West Ham 0-0 Manchester United
Tickets are still available for all three of West Ham’s friendlies in the United States. Prices start at $77. Those attending will be treated to two tournament matches, with Everton and Bournemouth the other sides taking part.
It’s difficult to see many goals being scored in this opening match, though.
West Ham are still lacking firepower up front. They only scored 46 Premier League goals last season and haven’t made any signings to boost their attack, while Man United fired a blank in their 0-0 draw with Leeds last week – a result we can see being repeated here.
Date | Competiton | Result |
27 October 2024 | Premier League | West Ham 2 Manchester United 1 |
11 May 2025 | Premier League | Manchester United 0 West Ham 2 |
Manchester United will expect to have new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo available for this match, but they’re hardly drowning in optimism ahead of the new season either. United finished below West Ham in the Premier League last season and scored two goals fewer.
Add the prospect of jet lag and the soaring hot New Jersey temperatures, and this one has 0-0 written all over it.
