West Ham United: talkSPORT broadcaster slams ‘so, so bad’ Kalvin Phillips for what he did v Burnley
West Ham United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been destroyed by Tom Rennie for his performance against Burnley, which he labelled ‘so, so, so bad”.
David Moyes’ side were unable to stretch their winning run in the League to three matches against the Clarets at the London Stadium on Sunday (10 March) as they were held 2-2 by Vincent Kompany’s side.
The Scotsman opted to start Manchester City loanee Phillips, but the England international struggled to get up to speed with the game and talkSPORT broadcaster Rennie urged Moyes to “get him out” of the side.
Writing on X on Sunday (10 March) he said: “Kalvin Phillips is so, so, so bad. Nobody did any due diligence on that transfer.
“Accommodating Phillips has unbalanced the team. Again. Get him out, and someone on the left.”
Will West Ham United sign Kalvin Phillips permanently this summer?
Phillips’ January switch to the London Stadium has been nothing short of a disaster from start to finish as the Manchester City loanee has looked off of the pace and nowhere good enough to start week in and week out in the Premier League.
There were signs of slight improvement against Everton as the 28-year-old impressed off of the bench, but he was nowhere near that level on Sunday as he was run ragged until he was substituted at halftime.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Hammers will make the England international’s stay in East London permanent, but you’d have to imagine that those in charge at the London Stadium will be keeping their money in their pocket.
Surely, Moyes cannot keep starting Phillips week in and week out in the Premier League, especially when the Scotsman needs results to save his job and extend his stay with West Ham.
