West Ham United confirmed XI v Manchester City: Jarrod Bowen absent, exit-bound player dropped
David Moyes has named his final starting line-up as West Ham United manager ahead of Sunday’s (19 May) Premier League clash with Manchester City.
The Irons show two changes from last week’s 3-1 win over Luton Town, as confirmed by the club’s official X account [19 May].
Konstantinos Mavropanos comes in for the dropped Angelo Ogbonna, who looks likely to depart London Stadium this summer, while Aaron Cresswell also comes into the XI.
There is no Jarrod Bowen in the matchday squad, with rumours circling beforehand that a sickness bug had struck the camp – something that has since been partially shot down.
West Ham can give David Moyes perfect send-off
The Hammers make the trip to the Etihad Stadium with little to play for on the face of it, knowing they will finish ninth regardless of results on the final day.
However, there is plenty to play for as far as City are concerned as they will likely need all three points to finish above Arsenal – who host Everton – and claim a fourth successive Premier League title.
West Ham’s players owe it to departing manager David Moyes to put on a show at the Etihad Stadium and give the Scotsman the perfect send-off he deserves.
Being without Bowen is a massive blow, of course, and Lucas Paqueta – potentially playing his final game for the club against the side he has been tipped to join – Mohammed Kudus and Michail Antonio much each step up.
Let’s just hope the visiting players can hold their heads up high come full-time as we bring down the curtain on a rather mixed 2023-24 campaign.
