West Ham United: BBC pundit shares ‘100%’ verdict on two controversies v Burnley
Anita Asante has insisted Burnley were given justice after they were awarded a penalty after the first-half call where the decision went in favour of West Ham.
The former England defender was steadfast in her view that the penalty was 100% correct to be awarded, and Burnley slammed it home via Jay Rodriguez.
In the first half, a contentious decision went the way of the Hammers, where replays showed clear contact but it was deemed not enough for a penalty – a decision Asante disagreed with.

Asante was speaking live on BBC Sport Final Score [25 November, 16:13] as she insisted: “Absolutely 100% penalty, Luca Koleosho with nifty footwork and he gets taken off his stride. Feels like a bit of justice really as Burnley did not get the penalty call in the first half.”
Playing with fire
The Hammers arguably got away with one in the first half when the VAR decided to stick with the on-field decision after the referee didn’t give a penalty, but their risky play in and around their own penalty area led to what felt like an inevitable decision.
Gifting their opponents a goal in a game they really should have looked at as one they should be winning will infuriate the fans who were already unhappy with their underwhelming display leading up to the penalty decision.
While the Hammers looked to have let complacency creep in after falling 1-0 down, their resilience and fight shown in the late comeback to win 2-1 will prove inspirational to the team who had looked underwhelming and lost for ideas up until the 85th-minute equaliser.

Having dropped a goal down for the majority of the second half, questions will still likely be asked as a result of the performance, but a late comeback could be a huge result as far as Moyes and his players’ mentality is concerned.
