West Ham must avoid throwing away 20-year streak vs Leeds United
West Ham take on Leeds United in the Premier League on Friday, in the latest attempt to revive their dying season already.
Goals from Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen saw West Ham beaten 2-0 by Brentford on Monday, in yet another dismal night at the London Stadium.
But the trip to Elland Road on 24 October will provide Nuno Espirito Santo with another chance to beckon a reaction out of his team.
Nuno will likely be happy with a draw against Leeds, but three points would provide the Hammers with a platform to attack the difficult run of fixtures that follow the clash.
Stuart Attwell will oversee West Ham’s trip to Leeds, but the London club will hope to avoid the referee’s interference.

West Ham have strong history to maintain vs Leeds
Leeds’ return to the Premier League has ebbed and flowed, with the Whites currently sitting 16th in the table.
Wins against Wolves and Everton have contained signs of promise, but there have been dismal displays against Arsenal and Fulham, too.

Daniel Farke’s side have lost their last two games, and were beaten by fellow newly-promoted side Burnley on Saturday.
Elland Road has always been a difficult place to go, though, even with Leeds at their worst – the home faithful are capable of producing an atmosphere rarely matched throughout the league.
Not so much for West Ham, however. The Hammers have not lost at Elland Road since 2005, having visited the stadium four times since.

Their last trip to Leeds came in 2023, when Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca‘s goals were cancelled out by Rodrigo’s second-half equaliser.
Leeds snatch it late against West Ham
West Ham’s last loss to Leeds at Elland Road came in what is now known as the Championship, with the last loss in the Premier League dating back to 2003.
In 2005, though, the home side had taken the lead through Rob Hulse, before Gavin Williams scored a superb volley to put the Hammers back on terms.
But Leeds would snatch a late winner through Shaun Derry, who finished well past Stephen Bywater.
Nuno will hope Friday does not see a repeat of that result, with West Ham in desperate need of points on the board.
