West Ham midfielder Declan Rice dubbed ‘Superhuman’ by Andy Hinchcliffe v Newcastle
Andy Hinchcliffe was blown away by Declan Rice’s powers of recovery as he helped West Ham beat Newcastle United 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Rice only played one pre-season game for the Irons before the weekend’s Premier League opener, but he started and finished the full match at St James Park.
He appeared to be suffering from cramp after attempting a tackle in the second half, but he soldiered on to aid the Irons to victory.

Speaking on Sky Sports‘ [15/08/21] live coverage of the match, commentator Hinchcliffe was stunned by the 22-year-old England midfielder.
“I don’t know what he put in his drink or what he ate but he’s been superhuman since he came back onto the pitch,” he said.
“There was no way he was coming off the pitch.
“I was worried about whether he could see the game out but he’s looking stronger and stronger since complaining of cramp.”

It takes a lot to get Rice off the pitch.
His ability to play a significant amount of games has been crucial for us over the last few years.
He made 34 appearances in the Premier League during the 2018/19 campaign before playing every game the following season.
Last season, it took until April for him to miss his first games after suffering an injury during the international break.
But he battled back for the last three games of the season, missing just six games in total, before starring for England at the European Championship.
Now he’s back and in the thick of it already.
It’s like he’s never been away.
