West Ham fans’ brilliant six-word chant to Erling Haaland shared by BBC reporter

West Ham United fans didn’t miss the opportunity to mock Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in the Premier League on Saturday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team travel to the Etihad Stadium on 20 December, and the Hammers are clearly the underdogs going into the game.

Premier League relegation seems like a real possibility at the London Stadium, and the Portuguese manager has to figure out a way to end the Irons’ five-game winless run.

Haaland gave the home side an early lead in the fifth minute, but that didn’t stop the visiting supporters from calling him a BTECH version of Andy Carroll.

Erling Haaland misses gilt-edged opportunity vs West Ham

Haaland could’ve deepened the crisis for the Hammers in the 10th minute, but missed a sitter of a header.

That prompted a section of the away support to call the Norway international a “rubbish” Carroll, the striker who spent six years at the Boleyn Ground and London Stadium.

It’s good to see that the Irons’ supporters still have their sense of humour despite the crisis staring them in the face.

Reporter Shamoon Hafez shared on the BBC on 20 December: “How did Haaland miss that from six yards out? It brings chants of ‘you’re just a rubbish Andy Carroll’ from the travelling West Ham supporters. There’s a Christmas Carroll joke in there somewhere.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and El Hadji Malick Diouf’s absence due to the Africa Cup of Nations is a massive blow for the East London outfit, making the situation even more challenging for Nuno.

There are no easy games for the Hammers until the end of the season, and they must fight for every point they can.

Nuno Espirito Santo has Slaven Bilic example to emulate at Etihad Stadium

Nuno will have to go against the odds to beat Man City, but the Portuguese manager will be hoping to emulate Slaven Bilic’s success.

West Ham haven’t won three points at the Etihad Stadium since 2015, when the Croatian head coach was their manager.

It’s been 10 years since the Hammers have won in M11, and Tijjani Reijnders’ goal in the 38th minute has given the visitors a mountain to climb.

Nuno may need to make immediate changes at half-time, with Callum Wilson’s instincts needed up front after going 2-0 down at the break.
