Vladimir Coufal unlikely to feature v Manchester City

West Ham are reportedly likely to be without the services of right-back Vladimir Coufal for the Wednesday night EFL Cup game against Manchester City.

According to Claret and Hugh, Coufal is still recovering from a groin injury and is continuing to receive injections for the discomfort.

This makes him a doubt for the game against the defending champions and he is unlikely to make the squad.

Hope he’s back soon

In the past few games, Ben Johnson has taken over from Coufal and has done a fairly good job.

He may not be as proficient going forward, but it must be taken into consideration that he’s still a youngster and is slowly establishing his credentials to become a regular in the matchday squad.

That said, he is no Coufal and once the Czech international is back in form, he will most certainly be back into the playing eleven.

Not only is he terrific going forward, but his positional awareness also is second to none and he’s arguably the best defender in this team.

David Moyes has helped take his game to the next level and Coufal has repaid his faith by being a consistent performer for the Scotsman.

He was one of the best right-backs in the league last season and he’s even started this season brightly.

Missing him will be a huge blow and we’re hoping that he’s back for the weekend clash against Aston Villa.
