Tony Pulis rages at ‘disappointing’ linesman incident in West Ham United 4-0 win v Bournemouth
Tony Pulis was left disappointed at the linesman’s failure to see Maxwel Cornet’s offside position in his disallowed goal for West Ham against Bournemouth on Sunday (23 April).
Cornet thought he had scored his club’s fifth goal of the afternoon but the attacker was offside in the build-up.
The goal was disallowed after referee Anthony Taylor consulted the VAR at the Vitality Stadium.

“How the linesman doesn’t pick that up is really disappointing,” Pulis said on BBC Radio 5 Live Extra, as quoted by BBC Sport. “A top, top linesman missing that. That’s where VAR has been good.
“It wasn’t a toenail offside, he was well offside!”

Rampant Hammers
Cornet will undoubtedly be disappointed with the decision to rule out his goal, with the attacker still in search of his first West Ham goal since his summer move from Burnley.
He has come very close to breaking his duck for the club on a handful of occasions, but his run will continue after this disallowed strike, made even more frustrating that fellow substitute and fellow attacker Pablo Fornals did get on the scoresheet.
While it will be a hard one to take individually, Cornet should be very happy with the result for his team, one that keeps them moving further up the Premier League table.
The Hammers are now into 13th place with the impressive victory, with David Moyes set to be ecstatic by scoring four goals without reply.
The manager will need all of his players ready to go in the coming weeks as they fight for Premier League safety and for silverware in the Europa Conference League, with Cornet set to have many more opportunities to get among the goals in the club’s upcoming games.
