This is how West Ham could fair in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first game vs Everton

Nuno Espirito Santo will be in the dugout for West Ham’s game against Everton on Monday.

Nuno was appointed by West Ham just hours after Graham Potter was dismissed on 27 September, and took training on Saturday at Rush Green.

David Sullivan has come under fire for his treatment of Potter, with the former boss notified of the decision as he arrived at training himself.

With just two days’ preparation before the Hammers visit Everton on Monday, it will be interesting to see how Nuno manages in his first game in charge.

West Ham Zone has looked at how Nuno has fared in his previous debuts.

Wolves 1-0 Middlesbrough

West Ham managers tend to struggle with poor starts in the Premier League, with Potter and Julen Lopetegui losing their first games.

Nuno will be looking to put that record aside against the Toffees.

In his first competitive game with Wolves, the Portuguese manager coached a dominant display as they ran out 1-0 winners against Middlesbrough.

The 51-year-old went on to win the Championship that season, and fans will be hoping he can replicate that success at the London Stadium.

Tottenham 1-0 Manchester City

Nuno has the chance to work with Soungoutou Magassa in East London after trying to sign the France international during his time at Forest.

The 21-year-old could start against Everton, with the Hammers having a short turnaround before the fixture.

With Tottenham, Nuno had the benefit of a full pre-season in charge and guided the Lilywhites to a convincing 1-0 win against Manchester City.

Heung-Min Son scored the only goal of the game, which started a strong run of form that drifted away before Nuno was sacked after just 17 games.

Nottingham Forest 2-3 Bournemouth

West Ham face an uphill battle to turn their form around.

The Hammers have won just one game this season, and Nuno is in a similar position to the one he was in when he joined Nottingham Forest.

In his first game in the East Midlands, his side were a lot more competitive but still fell to a 3-2 defeat against a solid Bournemouth side.

Forest were in the relegation zone at the time, but Nuno managed to guide them out of trouble and to European football after less than 18 months in charge.

After a tough period, the Portuguese manager’s tendency to get results in his first outings bodes well for the Hammers.

Nuno is likely to do the same against Everton and can hopefully transform the Irons into a top-half team again.
