Ten changes in drastic overhaul – West Ham United confirmed starting XI v Sheffield United
West Ham have confirmed their starting XI for the Premier League clash against Sheffield United at the London Stadium on 30 September as David Moyes looks to build on their midweek success.
Moyes has made 10 changes from the midweek clash against Lincoln City. Alphonse Areola, Vladimir Coufal, Nayef Aguerd, Kurt Zouma and Emerson make up the back four, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse return in midfield, while Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio round off the team.
Lukasz Fabianski, Thilo Kehrer, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Angelo Ogbonna, Ben Johnson, Pablo Fornals, Mohammed Kudus, Maxwel Cornet, Said Benrahma and Danny Ings all drop out of the side. Aaron Cresswell misses out through injury. Thomas Soucek is the only man to keep his place.
Building on midweek success
West Ham bounced back from their 3-1 defeat at Anfield last weekend by overcoming a difficult test against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup, albeit with a heavily rotated squad, and will now be looking to build on that with another victory here.
Sheffield United’s disastrous 8-0 loss to Newcastle in their last game could make them dangerous opponents, keen to bounce back from that result, and the Hammers will need to ensure they don’t allow any complacency to sneak in.
Jarrod Bowen will be looking to continue his magnificent form of late, having scored four goals and bagged an assist in six games so far this season, including three in his last four games. A leaky Sheffield United defence could provide him with a chance to improve his tally.

A win for the Hammers will set them up nicely to continue their good start to the season, but success in terms of the league table will depend on the other results for teams surrounding them.
In other West Ham news, the club are competing with some of Europe’s elite in race to sign Brazilian wonder.
