Supercomputer predicts outcome of West Ham vs Manchester United in Premier League showdown

West Ham will be hoping to continue their good momentum by aiming for an ambitious win over Manchester United on Tuesday.

The Hammers host the Red Devils at the London Stadium in a Premier League clash that many will be tuning in for.

West Ham are battling relegation, while Manchester United are hoping to secure a top-four finish under Michael Carrick.

There are 21 points between the sides in the league, though, one similarity both West Ham and Man United share is their good form.

Either way, there may only be one winner, with Opta‘s Supercomputer having already made its prediction.

Manchester United favourites, but West Ham have a chance

West Ham have a couple of players unavailable heading into the clash, as does Carrick’s United, but Nuno Espirito Santo will still hope for his side to pick up where they left off last time out in the league.

The Irons beat Burnley 2-0 last weekend, with Crysencio Summerville showing his best form in a West Ham shirt, and new signing Taty Castellanos getting off the mark against the Clarets.

Regardless, Opta‘s Supercomputer still thinks that Man United will be too much for the Hammers, and has predicted Carrick’s side to win with a 47 per cent chance of victory.

United are looking to make it five wins in a row for the first time in a long time, but West Ham’s feel-good factor could throw the Red Devils off course.

In the grand scheme of things, however, a point would be welcomed by Nuno, and it should be a competitive contest, all things considered.

However, Nuno may have to make a slight tactical adjustment due to Man United’s form in front of goal under Carrick.

Nuno to revert to five at the back as Man United’s xG worries

Nuno has played a five-at-the-back formation on occasions for the Hammers, but it has not brought much success. But that’s because it’s usually deployed against much stronger opposition.

Now, with momentum brewing for Nuno, it could be the perfect time to go back to his historically favoured formation, in an attempt to bamboozle former West Ham man, Carrick.

Man United’s xG in last three games:

United have reignited their strength in attack and are creating multiple big chances per match. Not only that, but the Red Devils are overperforming their expected goal rate in most games, due to high-quality shots.

Nuno needs to have his defence on high alert in this one, because if not, Man United may have the game wrapped up early on at the London Stadium.
