West Ham begin their 2025/26 Premier League journey on Saturday as Graham Potter’s side travel to newly promoted Sunderland.

It will no doubt be a tough game for the Hammers, with the Stadium of Light likely to be rocky after spending several years outside of the top-flight.

Potter has confirmed that West Ham will have some absences against Sunderland due to injuries.

Warm day predicted for Sunderland vs West Ham

For West Ham’s trip up to Sunderland, the hot weather is set to continue.

According to the Met Office on 15 August, Sunderland is set to be around 18 degrees on Saturday, a temperature that is set to last throughout the match. 

This is despite cloudy weather being forecast throughout most of the day, with sunny spells set to arise in the evening.

The chance of precipitation throughout the day is low, at below five per cent.

Anyone who suffers from hayfever will be pleased as the pollen count is also low for Saturday.

West Ham have sold out for Stadium of Light trip

Going up to Sunderland, West Ham will have a strong contingent of supporters for the fixture.

The Hammers were given an allocation of 3,086 tickets, which have now sold out according to the West Ham website on 15 August.

Sunderland are also close to being sold out, with only their premium match day packages available to buy from their website.

This should make the clash a memorable one in front of a packed Stadium of Light.

Travel information for the Stadium of Light

Any West Ham fans looking to make the trip to the Stadium of Light on Saturday have a wealth of options to choose from on how to get to the ground.

Sunderland is the nearest mainline station, located 10-15 minutes walk away in the city centre. 

The Tyne and Wear Metro also serves the stadium via both Stadium of Light and St Peter’s stations.

If driving, parking near the stadium can be busy, and roads near the ground are residential only and are well monitored on matchdays.

However, there are multiple car parks in the city centre that should have availability.
