Sky Sports pundit wowed by ‘magnificent’ Jarrod Bowen moment in West Ham 3-1 loss v Liverpool

West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen scored a “magnificent” header for West Ham in their match against Liverpool, according to Sky Sports pundit Kevin Phillips.

The winger swooped in front of Reds defender Virgil van Dijk in the 42nd minute to sneak a header past Alisson at Anfield on Sunday (24 September).

But it was the home side who came out on top, winning the match 3-1 thanks to goals from Mohamad Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

“What a magnificent header by Bowen, a stooping header, he gets in front of Van Dijk, who does not know where he is,” Phillips said on Sky Sports News (24 September, 2.47pm).

Superb goal

West Ham were very much in the game at half time, and that was all thanks to Bowen’s very well-taken header just a few minutes before the break.

Salah opened the scoring from the spot in the 16th minute, but his fellow winger Bowen was on hand at the other end to level the match.

The Reds, however, came to life in the second half, and despite several attacks from David Moyes’s side, Jurgen Klopp’s men prevailed.

The home side moved up to second place in the Premier League table with the win, leaving them just two points off leaders Manchester City.

The Hammers meanwhile sit seventh with 10 points to their name, with their focus now turning to the EFL Cup, with Lincoln City awaiting the East London club in the third round of the competition on Wednesday (27 September).

Hammers manager Moyes will already be looking ahead to that cup clash, even if it will take some time to digest the defeat against the Merseyside outfit.

In other West Ham news, Darren Bent has made a Hammers prediction live on talkSPORT, with the host calling it “unbelievable.”
