Sky Sports pundit baffled by Tomas Soucek miss in West Ham v Tottenham

Andy Hinchcliffe was baffled by Tomas Soucek’s missed header in the first half of West Ham versus Tottenham at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Soucek squandered a great chance to score with his head as the 26-year-old put his effort wide of Hugo Lloris’ goal.

The Czech Republic international was yards out from goal when he met Pablo Fornals’ superb cross but couldn’t score and that left Hinchcliffe disappointed.

“I’m surprised at the very least he didn’t hit the target there,” said Hinchcliffe during the first half on Sky Sports Main Event on Sunday [02:35pm].

“It’s an excellent ball in but he can’t get high enough to get over it and keep it down. Slightly mistimes it as it’s off the top of his head, rather than his forehead. That’s another good opportunity for West Ham.”

Not so Super Czech

Soucek should have scored that.

As Hinchcliffe said, he completely misjudged what was a perfect cross into the box from Fornals, who should be disappointed to not have notched an assist.

Soucek hasn’t been as prolific in front of goal this season than he was last season with the Czech midfielder scoring just once in what has now been eight and a half Premier League games.

By this point of last season, Soucek had also only scored once so maybe we’re just waiting to see him warm up completely and finally start getting among the goals again.
