Sky Sports man drops what Brentford fans chanted about Said Benrahma & David Moyes v West Ham United

Brentford fans mocked David Moyes and West Ham United with chants from the stand after they took a 1-0 lead at the London Stadium on Friday night (30 December).

Ivan Toney poked the ball into the net from six yards out after confusion in the box following a long throw to give the visitors the lead, despite the Hammers starting the game really well.

But the confidence and energy was sapped out of the stadium following the goal, and the travelling fans took advantage of recent troubles at the London Stadium by mocking manager Moyes and serenading their former player Said Benrahma.

According to Sky Sports journalist Ben Grounds (30 December, 20:07) the Brentford fans sang “Said Benrahma, he wants to go home, as well as “sacked in the morning” at Moyes.

The Irons were one point off the relegation zone heading into this game and with the pressure mounting on the manager’s job, it was described as a “must-win game” by pundits.

Inevitable

West Ham actually started the game really well, with Declan Rice hitting the post and some fine passing moves in midfield with the manager ringing the changes to his team.

But a long throw into the box caused confusion and while Lukasz Fabianski made a good save initially from Ethan Pinnock’s strike, Toney pounced before both Emerson and Aaron Cresswell to score.

That led to a complete change in the atmosphere with the nerves really kicking in, and the fans growing more and more concerned about the state the team is in.

But they continued to create chances and were arguably the better side throughout the first 45 minutes, so with a bit more quality in the second half there is every chance they can turn this result around.

If they don’t the premonitions of the Brentford fans could well come true and we could head into the new year with someone else at the helm, with no sign of things turning around for Moyes.
