Scott Minto slams multiple West Ham players after second-half moment v Fiorentina
Fiorentina equalised in Prague just a matter of minutes after West Ham had taken the lead from the spot in the UEFA Conference League final.
Former Chelsea and West Ham defender Scott Minto blasted multiple defenders from his former club for the equaliser on BBC Sport’s live blog (7 June).
“Well just as West Ham was going on the attack, it is a really poor goal to concede. Somehow there are two or three West Ham defenders not getting tight enough. Bonaventura does really well, the first touch to bring it down and then the second touch to guide it into the corner,” Minto said.

Moment of madness
As soon as the Hammers had taken the lead in the final through Said Benrahma after being awarded a penalty, they had given that same lead away.
Giacomo Bonaventura equalised for the Italian side with a delightful finish, however as Minto pointed out above, the defending was not good enough from a West Ham perspective.
It seemed after the goal that everything was going the way of the Irons and the fans in the stadium had certainly come alive for the Premier League side. However, perhaps the excitement of going ahead and the magnitude of the occasion got to the players, which caused them to switch off.
Many of the English side’s players on the pitch have never featured in a game this big, and this was clearly shown through the poor and sloppy mistakes in defense which lead to the goal going against them.
You need to defend better than that to win a European final!
