Robbie Savage wowed by Lukasz Fabianski in West Ham United win v Freiburg
Robbie Savage was wowed as West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski pulled off a “wonderful” double save in the 2-1 win against Freiburg on Thursday 5 October.
Savage was impressed by the effort made by the Hammers’ keeper, despite the ball eventually finding the back of the net to draw the teams level shortly after half-time.
The Hammers were able to bounce back through a Nayef Aguerd header which put them a goal ahead once more, and David Moyes’ side held on to the result to earn their second victory of the group stage so far.

Savage was speaking on TNTSports, as reported by BBC Sport [18:54], where he detailed: “It is a great pass and a great turn.
“It’s a wonderful double save from Fabianski but the power from Sallai beats the West Ham goalkeeper and they get an early equaliser.”
West Ham making their presence known
The Hammers have stamped their mark on this Europa League group, with Freiburg on paper providing the toughest test of the teams they will face. With an away trip to Germany and three points under their belt, you have to think West Ham will continue to push on.
Fabianski’s double save was unlucky to have resulted in a goal, but it was a display that he can still turn in impressive performances despite losing his regular starting place to Alphonse Areola, who has also been impressive this season.

Fabianski will be poised and ready to pounce if for any reason Areola’s first-team place is compromised, and David Moyes can take reassurance from the knowledge that he has two very impressive goalkeepers in his ranks.
With six points from two games in the group stage so far, the Hammers will be questioning how far they can go in this competition as they look to replicate their European success of last season.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are targeting a move to sign a Premier League ace.
