Robbie Savage stunned by West Ham United ‘Perfection’ in win v Leicester

Robbie Savage was impressed by perfection on show from Tomas Soucek as West Ham United beat Leicester City in the Premier League.

London Stadium welcomed Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team on Thursday (27 February), with Soucek breaking the deadlock early before Jarrod Bowen later forced an own goal in the 2-0 win.

The Czech international scored in the 21st minute after a ball was whipped into the Leicester box, leading to an impressive save from Mads Hermansen before the midfielder tapped the ball home.

Savage stunned by Soucek in West Ham win v Leicester

Savage hailed Soucek for perfectly timing his run before the first goal against Leicester.

When the ball was played in, Kudus and the Czech midfielder managed to stay behind the Foxes’ last defender, Jannik Vestergaard.

Hermansen pulled off a brilliant save off Kudus’ strike but parried it to Soucek, who made the most of the opportunity.

Speaking on TNT Sports during commentary (27 February), Savage said: “I’ve got to say, I think both players have timed their run to perfection.”

Graham Potter turns things around at London Stadium

Graham Potter struggled initially at the London Stadium, winning just one of his opening five games in the Premier League.

David Sullivan’s decision to sack Julen Lopetegui was the right call, and the former Chelsea boss’ arrival filled the fans with excitement.

While Potter didn’t have the best of times at the Blues, his work at the Seagulls was admired by many after developing some exciting prospects there.

The Englishman arguably has the quality to turn things around at the Hammers, but the supporters couldn’t see that initially.

Potter’s record this season in the Premier League.

Maybe the lack of signings in the winter transfer window could have affected the 49-year-old head coach, and he just needed time to get things right.

The Irons have played without a recognised striker for some time after Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio’s injuries.

Danny Ings seems out of Potter’s plans, and Evan Ferguson was only recently signed on loan from Brighton.

The London Stadium faithful will hope their team can continue their winning as they face an evidently more challenging test against Newcastle United next on 10 March.
