Premier League make official statement about West Ham v Fulham incident

West Ham had a goal ruled out against Fulham and now the Premier League have made a statement about the decision.

The Hammers have gone in at the break 2-0 up at the London Stadium thanks to goals from Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek within two minutes of each other.

It could have been three for Graham Potter’s side if Max Kilman’s strike hadn’t been ruled out for offside by VAR.

The Premier League has since made a statement on the decision, via the Match Centre on X (14 January) which said: “The referee’s call of no goal was checked and confirmed by VAR, with Kilman in an offside position.”

Premier League make statement after West Ham v Fulham incident

The Irons were under the cosh for the opening 25 minutes in East London with Fulham taking charge of the opening exchanges.

There were plenty of chances for the away side but it was the Hammers who looked to have opened the scoring thanks to the centre-back summer signing.

It was a blow to see the replay for home supporters as it was clear to see that both Kilman and Soucek were offside as the ball was played.

Regardless of this, VAR took its time before eventually coming to the right decision which didn’t go down well inside the London Stadium.

The subsequent statement from the Premier League won’t come as a surprise and is simply telling fans what they already knew about the incident.

Potter won’t be bothered by the decision going against his side now that his side are in the lead against a good side who are looking to earn European qualification.
