Moyes swings axe with three changes – West Ham United confirmed XI v Freiburg
West Ham have confirmed their starting XI for their final Europa League group stage clash with Freiburg at the London Stadium, as David Moyes makes three changes from the 5-0 defeat to Fulham.
The boss was clearly unhappy with his side’s display against Fulham but has given them another chance as he brings just Konstantinos Mavropanos, Emerson Palmieri and Edson Alvarez into the side.
Plenty of Hammers stars have retained their places in the side and been given an opportunity to redeem themselves after the shocking result at Craven Cottage last weekend.
A chance to impress
Given the shocking performances on display at Craven Cottage at the weekend, the players selected today must see this as a huge opportunity to prove to Moyes that they deserve to be starting in the Premier League next time the Hammers face domestic action.
For those that remain in the starting XI, they will need to prove their worth once more. Lacklustre displays all around left Moyes fuming and redemption will have to be on the cards for his players tonight.
Konstantinos Mavropanos in particular will be licking his lips given the shocking defensive displays from Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma against Fulham, feeling like he may finally become one of the first-choice options in the Hammers’ defence.

If West Ham win against Freiburg today, they have the opportunity to top their group, with a loss leaving them second which would hand them a considerably tougher draw for the first knockout round, with Champions League clubs joining the mix.
