Merson claims West Ham ace has given Moyes headache after Brighton display

Paul Merson has claimed that West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has given David Moyes a real headache after his display against Brighton.

Snodgrass scored twice and assisted Issa Diop’s opener at the London Stadium, as the Irons failed to hold on to their two-goal lead to draw 3-3 in the capital.

The Sky Sports pundit suggested that Jarrod Bowen will most likely be guaranteed to come in after securing a deadline day move, but the form of Snodgrass makes it hard to drop him.

Merson also threw Michail Antonio’s name into the hat, as he scrambled to find an answer on who could make way for Bowen to come into the side.

“I thought he was the one who was going to make way for Bowen because I’m sure Antonio is definitely going to play,” he said on Soccer Saturday [01/01 17:22 pm].

“For me, all of a sudden, he has given the manager a headache. You know, paying for Bowen, he will have to play.”

Snodgrass was superb against Brighton, and West Ham need a more advanced attacker to chip in with some goals. Both Antonio and Sebastien Haller are failing to do that, so they must be top of the list to drop out as it stands.

The 23-year-old has been involved in 49 goals since the start of last season, no one in a claret shirt can come close to matching that. Bowen has to come in next time out, and as it stands – Antonio must prepare himself for disappointment after a poor afternoon against the Seagulls.

Antonio has only scored once this season, and managed to have six attempts on goal against Brighton without finding the back of the net – not good enough [WhoScored].
