Martin Allen explodes at ‘ridiculous’ TNT Sports coverage of Tottenham v West Ham United

Martin Allen has blasted TNT Sports as “ridiculous” for not including him – or another West Ham United-centric figure – on the punditry panel for the contest with Tottenham.

The Hammers icon slammed the broadcasting channel’s choice to use “Spursy” panel guests – those of a Tottenham persuasion including Les Ferdinand, Glenn Hoddle and Peter Crouch – and proposed his background could provide some balance.

Julen Lopetegui’s side capitulated in the second half in North London, losing their lead to emerge on the end of a 4-1 defeat and seeing goalscorer Mohammed Kudus sent off for violent conduct late on.

Allen took to X [19 October] to voice his displeasure with the TV company, posting: “TNT TV people only got Spursy people on the panel. Ridiculous. Should av (have) me on there [giving] it plenty !!!!”

West Ham United give fans plenty to criticise

West Ham produced a second-half display at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium nothing short of appalling.

It certainly would have made Allen interesting value on the pitchside punditry panel, and the former Irons midfielder makes a reasonable point.

Three former Spurs heroes completed the punditry selection for the clash without a single sole nod to the East Londoners, whose performance left plenty to pick the bones out of.

Irons fans were seething at the events unfolding before them after half-time, prior to which their team had given a good account of themselves and led from the 18th minute until the 36th.

A point would even have been a good result, but a ridiculous spell of defending cost them, before Kudus’ red card and consequent suspension further diminished a dismal day at the office.
