Lucas Paqueta axed as Moyes makes five changes – West Ham United confirmed XI v Fulham

West Ham United have confirmed their starting XI for their Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday (8 April).

David Moyes has made five changes change to the team that started the 5-1 defeat against Newcastle United on Wednesday (5 April), with Vladimir Coufal, Angelo Ogbonna, Pablo Fornals, Danny Ings and Aaron Cresswell replacing the likes of Thilo Kehrer, Nayef Aguerd, Lucas Paqueta, Said Benrahma and Emerson.

Last chance saloon

This is not only a massive clash for West Ham United but a huge one for Moyes who looks certainly in the last-chance territory after Wednesday’s damaging 5-1 defeat to Newcastle on their own turf.

David Sullivan has backed the embattled Scot throughout the season but after Wednesday’s dismal loss and it appears his patience has almost run out, and anything less than a draw at Craven Cottage on Saturday (8 April) could now see a change made at the London Stadium.

West Ham

A lack of options has been cited as a reason for sticking with the 59-year-old, but with Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter now on the market after losing their jobs at Leicester City and Chelsea respectively the picture has dramatically been altered with Sullivan now having attractive managerial candidates on the table.

If Moyes wants to stay in the job at West Ham United, then he can’t afford anything other than a win against their capital rivals on Saturday, against a tough Fulham side who have enjoyed a superb season under Marco Silva at Craven Cottage.

The Hammers have been unbelievably bad this season, hence their terrible plight in the Premier League table, and another defeat against Fulham could well compound the club’s fears and also see a huge and pivotal change in the London Stadium dugout.
