Lewis Jones predicts result of West Ham clash v West Brom
Lewis Jones has backed West Ham United to drop more points in the Premier League against West Brom on Wednesday evening.
The Sky Sports pundit has predicted that it will finish 1-1 at The Hawthorns, despite the Baggies already being relegated to the Championship.
David Moyes will know that his side has to win or face the daunting prospect of missing out on European football altogether next season.
Writing in his Sky Sports predictions column this week, Jones isn’t foreseeing much success for the Irons this evening.
“David Moyes could really do with Sam Allardyce instructing his West Brom boys to have a real go in this game rather than sitting back in a typical Allardyce block,” he wrote.
“I’ve got a hunch that Big Sam won’t be changing tact, though, and will set up to frustrate the Hammers, who are a team that relish playing on the break but struggle when tasked with opening up a well-marshalled defence.
“Both Everton and Brighton sat in behind the ball for large parts in their last two fixtures and only a classy Said Benrahma goal out of nothing was what they had to show for it. Are nerves getting to the players at a critical time?”
Disaster.
There is no playing it down, should we miss out on European football after being in such a dominant position only a matter of weeks ago, it would be a massive failure.
Of course, we didn’t expect this success, but once you get into a position such as this one, you have to grasp it with both hands.
West Brom have nothing but pride left to play for this season and will be buoyed by their supporters returning to The Hawthorns, something we hope can also motivate us.
Something needs to change in our mentality after disappointing results against Everton and Brighton, and there is no better chance than an already relegated side.
Moyes will have his side motivated, and he will make it very clear that he expects nothing less than three points, one simply isn’t enough.
