Kieron Dyer gushes over ‘under-rated’ West Ham star Michail Antonio

Michael Antonio is one of the most under-rated players in the Premier League, according to former West Ham midfielder Kieron Dyer.

Antonio, 31, has been on fire for the Irons this season with the Jamaican international easily one of the most in-form strikers in the Premier League.

He spearheaded West Ham’s attack again on Sunday in their 1-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park and Dyer admits he’s been proven wrong by him.

“When you play against him, after the game, you know you’ve had a right ding-dong battle,” said Dyer on Sky Sports Premier League on Sunday [01:47pm].

“He’s added goals and I’d say he’s one of the most under-rated players in the Premier League.

“When I saw him when he first came into the Premier League, I wasn’t a big fan. I never expected him to have the career he’s had.

“To beat [Paolo] Di Canio as West Ham’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League is a credit to the guy.”

One of a kind

Antonio has it all.

No defender wants to go up against the former Nottingham Forest player, who joined the Hammers as a right-back before being used as a right-winger and eventually a centre-forward at the London Stadium.

His transformation from full-back to striker has been helped by his experience of playing in different areas as he has strengths that would see him well suited to playing in other parts of the pitch.

It has made him a complete striker. He can run with the ball, he can link-up with fellow attackers, he’s skilful, he’s strong, he’s good in the air and he can finish really well too.

David Moyes has the complete package in Antonio and it’s no shock to see Dyer raving about the player, who’s proven him wrong over the years in East London.

In other West Ham news, Michael Owen predicted the game against Everton.
