Kevin De Bruyne hits out at Manchester City fans after West Ham incident

Kevin De Bruyne has slammed Manchester City fans for their reactions during the 4-1 win against West Ham on Saturday.

The Hammers suffered yet another damaging defeat under Julen Lopetegui against the out-of-form Citizens on 4 January.

Despite winning by three goals, the Etihad still showed some signs of nerves after Niclas Fullkrug’s late strike which didn’t go down well with the Belgian international.

He told Sky Sports after the game: “I don’t know why. I can understand that we aren’t at the level but they should support us.

“The effort is there 100 per cent and we still won 4-1 so I don’t understand what is happening. It is not like they created a lot of chances either so it is what it is.”

The City fans are fair to be slightly unsure about their side at the moment, regardless of their Premier League dominance in recent years.

Given that Pep Guardiola’s side had won just two in their last 14 games going into the clash against the Irons, there was bound to be some nerves.

Ultimately, the away side made it easy for the champions despite early first-half chances for Mohammed Kudus and Tomas Soucek.

Once again, Lopetegui will come under fire for this as the Spaniard moves nearer to the sack from the London Stadium.

Sides like Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Brighton have secured positive results against City in recent weeks and months, Saturday’s clash (4 January) was an ideal chance to secure a much-needed win.

This wasn’t the case for the Hammers who will go home unhappy with the result but it doesn’t appear that the home faithful or players were much happier.
