Jonty Colman shares what West Ham United fans were heard chanting at David Moyes in 4-0 win over Bournemouth
David Moyes is back in the West Ham fans’ good books after they were heard chanting his name in the 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday (23 April).
The Hammers claimed all three points in a must-win game thanks to goals from Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, Declan Rice and Pablo Fornals to move six points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand.
There has been plenty of speculation about the future of Moyes beyond this season because of the team’s performances in the league with the fans turning on him in recent weeks, but they were firmly on his side during the game as journalist Jonty Colman shared.
“Chants of ‘David, David Moyes’ from the away end,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (23 April).
“Deserved after the last few weeks.”
Huge
It’s fair to say that the fan base has been quite divided for much of this season about the future of Moyes because of what he’s done and how the team were performing.
At this point though it’s quite widely accepted that the best option for all is for an amicable parting of ways in the summer, a year earlier than his contract is due to end.

However the performance against Arsenal last week at home to fight from 2-0 down, followed by progressing to a second European semi-final in as many seasons and then this dominant performance on the road against a relegation battle show he still has something to offer this season.
This is the level of performance expected each week, whether the result matches it or not is a different matter entirely though.
Ultimately this has been a great week for West Ham and the fans have shown their appreciation for the job the manager has done in difficult circumstances. And he deserves it.
