Jarrod Bowen stuns with ‘absolutely brilliant’ moment of West Ham class in first half vs Leeds United

West Ham were poor once again as they fell 2-0 down in the first half against Leeds United.

Leeds welcomed West Ham to Yorkshire, and Nuno Espirito Santo named a strange Hammers side, but it didn’t pay off as his side were two goals down after just 15 minutes.

There were few signs of improvement even after West Ham brought on the outcast Callum Wilson in an early swap for the injured Ollie Scarles.

West Ham didn’t learn from the Brentford defeat and once again looked devoid of confidence in the opening exchanges against the newly promoted side.

Jarrod Bowen was still able to showcase his talents once again despite the side around him being largely poor at Elland Road.

Jarrod Bowen so nearly scored wondergoal vs Leeds United

Bowen has a point to prove against Leeds after being the only remaining outfield player from West Ham’s previous meeting with Leeds.

This sums up everything that’s wrong at the London Stadium right now, but he hasn’t let it affect his performances.

The Englishman got on the ball when he could as he tried to make things happen for the Irons throughout a difficult 45 minutes.

Things could have been so different for the skipper if he had got the Hammers back on level terms midway through the first half.

An Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross was so nearly converted by Bowen as he took aim with a stunning bicycle kick, which Lucas Perri ultimately saved.

Alan Smith was left blown away live via Sky Sports Main Event on 24 October as he said: “Absolutely brilliant that from Jarrod Bowen.

He makes something out of nothing with his agility. He may have seen it a bit late, Lucas Perri, but it’s a good stop.

Bowen still can do more for West Ham vs Leeds

Lucas Paqueta did have the ball in the net after a nice Hammers move, but was clearly standing in an offside position.

This is as good as it got in the first half for the away side, so it is up to Bowen to drag his side back from 2-0 down in the second half.

The England international has the talent, but could certainly do with showcasing it more when the Irons really need him to.

Nuno is already under heavy pressure, and his captain could be the man to bail him out with a positive performance in LS11.

Tomas Soucek nearly converted his late first-half cross, so more of the same is required for the next 45.
