Jarrod Bowen makes thousands instantly regret their decision in West Ham loss vs Brentford

Jarrod Bowen was powerless to stop West Ham suffering yet another extremely disappointing night at the London Stadium on Monday.

West Ham lost 2-0 to Brentford, on a night in which the Hammers never really looked like posing a threat to Keith Andrews’ side.

The Hammers created just 0.33 expected goals from seven shots throughout the 90 minutes, whilst the Bees created 2.31 and peppered Alphonse Areola‘s goal with 22 shots.

Nuno Espirito Santo made several changes to the West Ham team, making a number of bizarre decisions that ultimately led the Irons nowhere.

In what is another confusing point of the former Tottenham boss’ early tenure, James Ward-Prowse continues to be left out of the West Ham squad by Nuno.

Jarrod Bowen anonymous vs Brentford

Bowen impressed for England against Latvia during the international break, but the winger did not look on form against Brentford.

The West Ham captain misplaced almost half of his passes, and lost the majority of his duels.

Bowen did have one good moment in the first half, when his long-range strike was tipped around the post by Caoimhin Kelleher, but there was little else to be happy with.

It was an unusually impotent display from the 28-year-old, who is usually such a danger for West Ham, even when let down by his teammates.

It would be Bowen doing the letting down on Monday, though, with the official Fantasy Premier League (FPL) account taking to social media to share the fact that the England international was the third-most transferred in forward for gameweek eight.

With over 12 million playing FPL, it can only be imagined that the number of disappointed players exceeds thousands, if not hundreds of thousands.

FPL players should steer well clear of West Ham

It is easy to see why FPL players would take a gamble on a West Ham player in their team. The Hammers have been poor, meaning their players are cheap, and could earn big returns should Nuno get his side firing.

But if Monday’s performance was anything to go by, there is little chance of any radical change in form anytime soon.

The Irons were practically anonymous throughout the 90 minutes, and, truthfully, should be embarrassed to have performed as such in front of their home fans.

With an incredibly difficult run of Premier League fixtures now approaching, Nuno must be feeling as if he needs a miracle.
