BBC Sport pundit blown away by ‘outstanding’ West Ham United gem Jarrod Bowen v Liverpool

BBC Sport pundit Mark Warburton was blown away by an “outstanding” performance from West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Bowen headed the Irons into a half-time lead against Liverpool in Saturday’s (27 April) Premier League contest at London Stadium.

The England international reacted well to head past Alisson from a rare moment of quality at either end in an otherwise uneventful first half.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live [27 April, 1:16pm], former Rangers boss Warburton said: “Jarrod Bowen has been outstanding.

“Bowen has a great left foot, but he is good aerially and his confidence is so high.”

Jarrod Bowen stock continuing to rise at West Ham

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made no secret that he is a fan of Bowen. Fingers crossed his successor does not have the same opinion.

In truth, it is hard not to like what you see from Bowen, who was undoubtedly the liveliest United player on the pitch.

West Ham are simply a different side with Bowen in it, making him the most important player at the club – yes, even more so than Lucas Paqueta.

For all the talk of Paqueta moving on in the summer – and United must do all they can to prevent that – tying down Bowen recently was huge.

West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen
Jarrod Bowen has scored some important goals for West Ham United this season.

That will not stop speculation over his future going away, you would expect, but it looks like the fan favourite is here to stay for a while longer yet.

Not only was he “outstanding” against Liverpool, but also in pretty much every other game he has played in this season. Long may that continue.

In other West Ham news, the supporters’ stance over David Moyes has been justified following comments made by Klopp.
