Jamie Carragher drools over what Jarrod Bowen did in West Ham United first half v Liverpool

Jamie Carragher was in awe of Jarrod Bowen for his involvement in Danny Ings’ offside goal for West Ham against Liverpool.

The Hammers have gone in at the break level at Anfield, despite going 1-0 up through a bizarre Jarell Quansah own goal with just over 20 minutes gone.

It took less than five minutes for the Reds to be back on level terms with Diogo Jota rising highest to head home a Federico Chiesa cross-come-shot.

Despite not maintaining their lead, there was one piece of quality from the Irons’ captain which certainly caught the eye in the first half.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on 25 September (8:18pm), Carragher said: “Jarrod Bowen does brilliantly.”

Going on to describe a ball played through by the forward as “perfect”.

The 27-year-old played through Crysencio Summerville before the ball eventually fell to Ings to convert past Caoimhin Kelleher.

The Englishman was offside and the goal was chalked off which left Julen Lopetegui demanding a VAR check which was not possible.

Despite the goal not counting, Bowen still has to be commended for his work to create the opening which could have led to the opener for the away side.

It has to be said that the Irons’ goal did come as a surprise at Anfield with Arne Slot’s men dominating the majority of the first half.

Jota’s goal didn’t come as a surprise and probably what the Reds deserved, if not less.

Going in after 45 minutes on level terms is a positive return for Lopetegui’s side who has plenty of firepower to bring off the bench in the second half.

Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta are the two most notable names available to the Spaniard moving deeper into the cup clash.

In other West Ham news, a David Moyes stance has already been shared as a return has already been mooted.
