James Ward-Prowse in ‘wicked’ moment on BBC in Manchester United v West Ham
James Ward-Prowse was caught in a ‘wicked’ moment as West Ham United took the lead against Manchester United on Sunday.
West Ham are hopeful of taking advantage of Manchester United’s poor run in the Premier League to end their eight-game winless streak at Old Trafford on 11 May.
It is safe to say that things are going to plan for Graham Potter’s side so far, as they lead the Red Devils by one goal at half-time.
This came after Tomas Soucek put the Irons in front 26 minutes into the game, following a brilliant build-up which saw almost every player play a part.

Karen Bardsley wowed by Ward-Prowse moment
Soucek’s goal came from West Ham‘s first shot on target in the game, but that is not to say they did not have other chances before that.
Max Kilman had an opportunity to put the Hammers in front when Ward-Prowse’s lovely corner found its way to him just nine minutes into the match.
Karen Bardsley was so blown away by Ward-Prowse’s cross that she described it as ‘wicked’, while also criticising Altay Bayindir for failing to deal with it.
Manchester United | Stat | West Ham |
5 | Shots | 4 |
1 | Shots on target | 1 |
47% | Possession | 53% |
248 | Passes | 272 |
89% | Pass accuracy | 88% |
The former goalkeeper hit out at the Manchester United shot-stopper for failing to show the confidence required to impose himself in the ‘no man’s land’.
“James Ward-Prowse puts in a wicked delivery, and Altay Bayindir is unsure whether to come out for it”, Bardsley said on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra, as quoted on BBC‘s live blog (11 May, 2:22 pm).
“That no man’s land is so important for a goalkeeper, you have to be confident in your decisions in that area.”

West Ham eye upset v Manchester United
West Ham are just 45 minutes away from causing an upset against Manchester United and returning home with all three points.
However, the London Stadium outfit cannot afford to be carried away, as they have often shown a tendency to give away leads.
They have failed to defend their leads in two of their last three Premier League games and will be hopeful of avoiding a similar scenario at Old Trafford.
If everything goes to plan, West Ham could move to 15th place and push Manchester United to 17th place by the end of the day.
