Ian Wright slams West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd after Newcastle loss

Ian Wright has slammed West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd for allowing Callum Wilson to score the easiest of goals for Newcastle.

The Morocco international received a pass from Lukasz Fabianski with the Hammers building out from the game, but he came under pressure and failed to hold on to the ball which resulted in the Newcastle striker scoring a tap in.

That goal made it 3-1 and the visitors added two more to secure a 5-1 victory at the London Stadium on Wednesday, 6 April.

Wright said at 22:16 on 5 April on Premier League Productions, “It’s crazy how he just gives the ball away like that. Poor performance all around.”

Dismal

It may be easy to point the fingers at David Moyes and he certainly does need to go as he’s been out of his depth at the club for a while now.

However, some of the players like Aguerd, Lukasz Fabianski, Emerson and Tomas Soucek all had wretched games and they cannot attribute that to the manager.

Even though things aren’t going well, players like Declan Rice and Kurt Zouma step up and give it their all to fight despite the adversities.

A new manager is needed because the players seem to have gotten complacent and it’s like relegation does not fear them anymore.

Alan Shearer was right, it was an embarrassing display and perhaps the worst home performance in Moyes’ second era at the club.

West Ham have got to make the decision to part ways with their manager and bring someone in who can instill some fear into this dressing room.
