Ian Wright shakes his head after what Gary Lineker said about West Ham United fans and David Moyes

Ian Wright seemed disappointed by West Ham fans calling for David Moyes to be sacked in the 4-0 defeat away at Brighton on Saturday.

The travelling Hammers support turned on the Scotsman in the heavy defeat at the AMEX Stadium, which left the East Londoners just two points away from the bottom of the Premier League table.

Relegation is a firm possibility at the London Stadium but Gary Lineker and the Match of the Day team don’t seem to think it’s time to sack Moyes.

West Ham

Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday night (4 March, 42m43s), Lineker said: “West Ham fans were singing ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’. How quickly things change in football.”

Wright sat there silently and just shook his head after what Lineker said.

Danny Murphy then said: “I don’t think he should be. I know they’re disappointed but they’re in a fight.”

Wright said: “I saw them the other day against Manchester United and I was very surprised with that result seeing how they played the other day. Hopefully, they get it right.”

West Ham

Seriously?

West Ham have spent over £150million on new players this season but they’ve gone so far backwards that it’s unbelievable.

Moyes is really failing to get a tune out of his big-money signings and some of the senior players who were already at the club are also regressing.

Look at Michail Antonio, Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice.

All four of them had been instrumental under Moyes but they look like players who deserve to be in a relegation battle at the moment.

What’s the solution?

You can’t change the playing squad at this point in the season – but you can change the manager.

It’s fair to say that Aston Villa, Everton and Southampton have shown improvements since changing their managers this season while the jury is still out on Leeds, who’ve recently hired Javi Gracia.

We’re not sure who’s out there to hire, maybe Rafa Benitez?

But either way, Moyes isn’t really doing anything right now to suggest he’s the right man to lead us going forward and keep us in the Premier League.
